Steve ‘Pricey’ Price from 4TOFM Townsville is celebrating 30 years on Townsville Radio this year. He got the shock of his life recently with a classic ‘surprise’ party from all of the Townsville Southern Cross Austereo Staff, including CEO Rhys Holleran. We believe he even shed a tear or two to see all of his mates (including his Mum), when he received a special presentation of a gold microphone for his achievement. How did he celebrate? He went to bed early, as he wanted to do a brekky show the next day! The Facts: 43 Years in Radio, 30 Years on Townsville Radio, 23 years on Breakfast Radio. He’s been on five Tours of Duty, to East Timor, Solomon Islands, Iran Jaya, Jerusalem and Afghanistan.

This came just days after a 13-year-old Collingwood supporter called Goodes an "ape'' at the MCG.  In a press conference, McGuire said he "wasn't even thinking" when what he said "slipped out".  He added: "I wasn’t racially vilifying anyone this morning, I made a comment," he said. "I was thinking the opposite. I made a slip today and it's one that I regret. It happens sometimes. I wasn't on my game. But there's no excuses. I put my foot in it and I stand here today to say I did the wrong thing. For that, I'm absolutely sorry. When I realised what had been said ... I made the appropriate phone calls to make sure everyone understood my position."  Full story.
