Rohan Edwards joins hit105

The path from Brisbane to Sydney is one full of great Queensland talent leaving for the supposed greener pastures of the Harbour City; however, Brisbane can right now listen to someone who has bucked the trend because hit105’s Content Director, Mathew Eggleston, has announced that Rohan Edwards has been appointed the new Afternoons Announcer. Rohan will also take on the role of Assistant Music Director.

Just three weeks ago Rohan was in a similar role at 2DayFM in Sydney, looking after Ash London Live which broadcasts nationally to 50+ stations. He’s now taken the unusual step of moving to Brisbane from Sydney, despite having never set foot in the River City, and all based around what he’s heard!

He explains, “Whilst I had a great team at 2DayFM and would often leave work with a sore face after laughing all day, I’ve always heard awesome things about Brisbane so when the arvo’s gig came up I knew I had to jump at it! Plus - I kept hearing about The Valley, so why not?!”

The proud Tasmanian studied with the Australian Film Television & Radio School (AFTRS) and got his start in radio working on the 2DayFM Street Team and panelling the Late-Night network shows.

Rohan has truly embraced his new city since moving here a few weeks ago, “So far I’ve loved every minute.  Last night I had an AMAZING pizza at Catchment Brewery in West End, I’ve already drank way too much red wine at Riverbar and I’ve spent WAY too much money at Netherworld on their arcade machines. I’m sold!”

Getting to know Rohan Edwards….

Where were you born and bred?

I was born in Tasmania - my family have about 7 Acres of land in Launceston. There’s something special about the air when you step of the plane into Tassie. It’s also really nice to visit my second head every now again after leaving it at home to go chase my dreams. 😊

First impressions of hit105?

I love how we’re always quick with promoting new music as soon as it drops. If you want all the new music with awesome old school tunes, you can turn on hit105 and hear the best music playlist in the country.

Favourite current song?

I’m extremely excited about the quality of Australian music that’s out at the moment. I’m really into the new one from Dean Lewis called “Be Alright”, he has a smash on his hands! I’m also super proud of Amy Shark and her debut album “Love Monster”. It’s so incredibly well put together. And in terms of old school music, Tenacious D – “Tribute”!!! every day of the week. Jack Black is my favourite person on the planet. I’ve seen School of Rock more times than anyone can count.

Any hidden talents?

I was National Maths Champion in Grade 8. I think Mum thought she’d have a Doctor/Accountant … But now she has an only child who yells into a microphone all day. It’s worth saying my parents are still both very proud of me!

Rohan is on-air from 12pm to 3pm weekdays on hit105
