2GB drops The Two Murrays after four years on air

The Two Murrays have been dropped from 2GB’s weekend line-up as the network undergoes Murray Wilton and Murray Olds – known as The Two Murrays – have hosted a five-hour weekend radio show covering news, sport, entertainment and lifestyle for the past four years. (Source: Skynews)

The network informed the hosts last week that the show would be pulled from the air indefinitely, according to The Daily Telegraph’s Confidential.

A network representative told the publication they were grateful for the work The Two Murrays have done over the last few years, saying the duo would remain involved on an ad hoc basis.

“We are grateful for The Two Murrays and all that they’ve done over the last few years, and we will continue to have a relationship with them on an ad hoc basis over the summer months,” the representative said.

The duo previously co-hosted on 2UE in the late 2000s and early 2010s before being reunited by 2GB in 2020.

At the time, the broadcasters expressed their excitement about resuming their working partnership, describing themselves as “ordinary blokes having a yarn”.

“We’re just a couple of ordinary blokes having a yarn,” Wilton said.

We can’t wait to resume the conversation with old and new friends on 2GB and 4BC,” Olds said.

While a replacement has not been confirmed, rumours suggest a motoring journalist could be in line for the role.

After being acquired by the Laundy hotel family, Nine Radio – now renamed Tapt Media – has undergone major changes.

The station’s ratings soared under the new ownership, with Ben Fordham Live dominating the breakfast slot with a 15.6 per cent market share, while Mornings with Mark Levy also recorded significant audience growth.
