2TM Celebrates 88 Years Of Broadcasting

2TM celebrated 88 years on air on Monday 27th February, as not only Tamworth’s first radio station, but also as one of Tamworth’s oldest Businesses still in operation today.

The station shares its birthday with Program Director, Jarrad Brooke, so the 2TM staff surprised Jarrad on the day by all turning up to work dressed like he usually does.

  1. Congratulations 2TM on chalking up another anniversary as you edge towards 90!
One of regional NSW’s ‘Heritage’ commercial radio stations.
2TM’s enduring success is thanks to the Higginbotham family (special thanks during my time to Mrs ‘H’, Warwick & Scott) and their magnificent staff throughout the years.
The likes of Max Ellis, John Minson, Ted Wilkinson and later Bill Morrison.
Announcers including Mal McCall, Bob Lipman, Kevin Knapp, Nick Erby, Brian Howard, Bob Corbett, Ted Hintz, Gary Coxhead, Bruce O’Hara .. the hordes of others, like myself, who passed through over the years.
Special mention to Phil Corbett – the journalist and voice of Regional News across the New England Network!!
To the 2TM team of today – you are continuing a proud heritage in Australian radio broadcasting – enjoy! kindest regards – Garry Blair. Maitland NSW.
