90.1 NBC FM Celebrates 40 Years of Continuous Broadcasting

90.1 NBC FM, the community radio station serving the St George and Inner West regions, is proud to announce that it will be celebrating 40 years of continuous broadcasting on May 6th, 2023. The station, which initially started broadcasting from studios in the Narwee Baptist Church, has since relocated to dedicated studios in Kogarah and is under the leadership of CEO Paul McGrath OAM.

Founded in 1983 by members of the Narwee Baptist Church, 90.1 NBC FM was established to provide a voice for the community and has since become an integral part of the local area. Over the past 40 years, the station has provided meaningful and popular programming for people in the listening area, including programs in Macedonian, Mandarin, Cantonese, Greek, Arabic, Telugu, Spanish, French, and Nepalese.

According to Mr McGrath, the station’s success is due to its commitment to engaging with and serving the local community. “We strive to involve all members of the community in our broadcast services, whether it be as listeners, presenters, producers, or volunteers. Our goal is to provide a platform for diverse voices and perspectives, and we are proud to have been doing so for the past 40 years.”

As part of the anniversary celebrations, 90.1 NBC FM will be hosting a range of events and activities throughout the year, including live broadcasts, concerts, and community events. The station invites all members of the community to join in the celebrations and looks forward to many more years of serving the local area.
