ABC Radio Overnight Changes

On Easter Saturday April 4, ABC Radio Overnights presenter Michael Pavlich made an announcement concerning the future of the ABC overnights program.

Pavlich has been looking after the program whilst Rod Quinn has been on long service. He had hosted Friday to Sundays from 2am to 6am, with Trevor Chappell hosting Monday to Thursday. Initially Rod was to return to overnights at the start of this year but this didn’t eventuate. However, Quinn aired a recorded message shared via Pavlich, announcing he wasn’t going to return to overnights after 19 years in the role, but he would continue with the ABC behind the scenes.

Pavlich then shared that he too was stepping away from Overnights and the ABC as he takes long service leave. It’s believed Ashwin Segkar will look after Friday to Sundays commencing April 17.

Mike Byrne has left the Super Radio Network. He was the Network Content Director a role he took on in January this year.

GfK Radio Ratings Canberra Survey 1, 2026

In the first GfK Canberra Survey for 2026, MIX 106.3 was once again the top rating station with a share of 22.8% (+0.6). Next came Hit 104.7 with 13.3% (-0.6) closely followed by ABC Canberra with 13.1% (+1.3). In fourth place was 2CA with 7.7% (+3.4). ABC Canberra was No 1 in breakfast (+4.7). 2RN dropped 8.3% in breakfast. ABC Canberra were also up 10.6% in evening.
