92.9 Triple M Content Director, Tim Arnold, has announced that Angie Ayers will join Triple M Perth Workday as Announcer and Content Assistant.
Ayers moves to Perth from Triple M Southwest in WA where she hosts Breakfast with Angie, based in Bunbury, a role she has held for more than three years. Replacing Ayers on the show will be Michael Ross, who is currently hosting Breakfast on Triple M WA, a remote service for the state.
Ross also hosted Late Nights on Hit 92.9 in Perth and was Breakfast host on Hit Limestone Coast in Mount Gambier. He was named Radio Today’s Top New Talent to Watch and was one of Radio Today’s 30 Under 30 in 2022.
Tim Arnold said: “At Triple M Southwest Angie is known as the ‘Queen of Localism’ and has, in just a couple of years in the Southwest, become one of its biggest ambassadors. Angie spent a couple of weeks with us in Perth earlier in the year filling in and did such a fantastic job and we are delighted that she is now joining us as our Workday announcer. She will be an excellent replacement for the ‘Wise Sage of Music’ that is Westo.”
SCA Group Content Director – Regional WA, Erica McGee, said: “I am so proud of Angie, and just a wee bit sad that we only got to work closely together for a short time. But I know that we’ll continue to collaborate, particularly to encourage and help more women to navigate their path in the radio industry. I’m really excited to welcome Michael, who has worked with SCA for three years, to Triple M Southwest Breakfast.”
Commenting on her time at Triple M Southwest, Ayers said: “It has been my biggest challenge and biggest privilege to wake up the listeners of Triple M Southwest. I can’t believe some of the stuff we pulled off like ‘Operation Scuba’ where we combined scuba diving and radio at 18 metres deep on a shipwreck; it was as complicated as it sounds but we had the right and unique team to do it.
“Doing our part to launch LiSTNR at a local level was so great to be a part of but my favourite moments are the small ones, laughs around the office, brainstorms, problem solving, people calling into the show to share their stories and love of the Southwest and Simon’s staff meeting slideshows. This is the longest house and location I have lived in since I was 19 and I have never taken one day of it for granted. Thank you for having me but it is time for this gypsy soul to move again.”
Commenting on his new role, Ross said: “I’m really excited to step into Southwest breaky, the team here are fantastic and I can’t wait to work with Erica on what will be a huge new chapter for myself and the station. I don’t think anyone could fill the shoes Angie leaves behind, because they’re so big, they’re flippers, and diving is more her thing. I’m also looking forward to the shortest geographical move for a job, about three metres.”
Ayers’ last day on Triple M Southwest is 6 October and she joins Triple M Perth on 30 October andMichael for Breakfast starts on Triple M Southwest on 9 October
