Big Phil – Taking A Step at a Time

2NZ Inverell brekky announcer ‘Big Phil’ Norris is now in rehab in Tamworth, adjusting to his ‘new leg’ and learning how to walk again after a recent major operation. He had his right leg amputated as a result a type 2 diabetes related infection. 

Regarding his radio career. He says it was a learning curve having not been on air for about 12 years. He was at 4LM Mount Isa for a few years from 2004. He stayed on in Isa doing a variety of jobs including: bread vendor, spruiker, Dj , road train driver and other gigs.  He returned to radio when his air check got the approval at 2NZ.  

“Best move I ever made”, says Phil. “Staff are amazing And listeners have warmed to me. I love my station, love Jocks Journal,  love my job and love playing the greatest hits of our generation.” 

Big Phil hopes to be back on air real soon.

Jocks’ Journal wishes him well on his recovery.

Nova’s New Changes

Nova has confirmed a major national realignment of its on-air lineup. Beginning on Monday February 9, Fitzy & Wippa with Kate Ritchie will move out of Sydney Breakfast and into national Drive. Under the new structure, the Ricki-Lee Coulter and Tim Blackwell show will take over Breakfast, replacing the current Fitzy & Wippa and Kate Ritchie team, while Joel Creasey is expected to shift into a full-time role at Nova Perth, leaving the Sydney show.
