Chris Smith New Morning Host On The Super Radio Network

As from Monday 6 January 2025 listeners across Australia will be able to tune in to hear Chris Smith hosting the Morning Show on the Super Radio Network streamed from the 2SM Studios in Sydney.

The Super Radio Network’s reach is across its 47 stations around Australia which means Chris Smith will be heard in New South Wales with the network covering more than 95%, as well as the Northern Territory, Far North Qld and on the Gold Coast and Tweed regions.

“Chris Smith is the best natural broadcaster in Australia”, says managing director and co-owner of the SRN George Caralis.

Chris started his career in radio at 2VM (Moree) and 2PK (Parkes), two NSW regional stations owned by the Super Radio Network. Chris has always had a special place in his heart for regional NSW and this will resonate with listeners to be heard across the heartland of regional NSW in 2025. In a sense Chris will be coming home to the SRN.”

“With the line up expected in 2025 across mainstream commercial radio in Australia for Mornings, Chris is by far the best broadcaster there is”, says managing director and co-owner of the SRN Despina Priala.

Despina added: “His depth and breadth of political knowledge in this country far surpasses his counterparts in the industry, the last of his kind from his era. With a federal election coming up in 2025, Australians want to hear Chris, and Australians need to hear Chris on the airwaves in 2025”.

Chris Smith will take the reins from John Laws who hosted the Morning Show for the Super Radio Network from 2011 and officially retired from broadcasting in November 2024 after 70 years.

For Chris this is a second chance. It is no secret that Chris has had at times a tumultuous career with certain indiscretions being made public, however this is a story of redemption, of forgiveness, and the owners of the Super Radio Network have backed Chris Smith and believe in Chris to give him a second chance on mainstream radio.

And why?

Australians love to get behind someone who has had a change….Chris has paid his dues for the last 2 years. Australians love a comeback story. How long is a man supposed to be managed for?”, says George Caralis, co-owner of the SRN.

“Chris has been in recovery for 2 years, is committed to his sobriety and intends to maintain it for himself, his family and his career. It has been a tough time for Chris for the last 2 years, and he has done the hard yards. We applaud that, and after all, haven’t we all been through them? As Australians we all learn to forgive and learn from our mistakes.”

The owners of the SRN, Despina Priala and George Caralis, have had several discussions with Chris Smith and believe in Chris’s commitment and integrity to give him a national platform in 2025 for broadcasting again on mainstream radio.

George Caralis added: “But let’s also look at who Chris Smith really is as a broadcaster. Chris Smith has had a stellar career in talk back radio. He kept an amazing 67% of the Morning audience at Nine radio. This was always his ultimate timeslot. He left Afternoons at Nine radio with 13% and hit a record top of 16%. His record is phenomenal. Chris was the PD and on air talent when 2GB began its ascendancy in 2001. He knows what it takes to change the balance of power in Sydney radio. He is a compelling broadcaster who’s not afraid to express strong opinions when the issue demands it. And surely as Australians we’re still able to reward those incredible efforts.”

  6. Very disappointed in this show. Realize it is talkback radio but interviews are so long! Will try to persevere a little longer but looks like I will be tuning out. How about a little more music? Show needs to lighten up a little.

  7. Good morning Chris
These so called rorts are dispictable and disgusting.
It has just been reported on Sky News that Anthony Albanese scheduled a full ministry
meeting in Sydney ahead of a Labour fundraiser, allowing MPs to bill taxpayers.
I see it as theft, stealing taxpayers money. Maybe it’s time to should be reported to the
    Police.
