In the latest GfK Gold Coast Tweed Radio Survey, Hot Tomato was once again the top rating station with a share of 15.9% (-3.0). Next came Triple M Gold with 11.4% (-0.9) then SEA FM with 8.8% (-0.5). Hot Tomato was No 1 station in all share movements by sessions (P10+) despite going down in each session. Triple M also went down in each session (P10+). Full details below.
The great Johnny Young has died aged 79 following a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. He was involved in all aspects of show business as a singer/songwriter as well as a radio/TV host. His first job in radio was as an office boy at 6IX Perth when he was 14, and that was the station where he also ended his radio career. He also worked on 6KY and 3XY Melbourne from 1968-1972.
102.9 Triple M was the clear winner in the latest GfK Newcastle Survey (2/2026) with a share of 25.6 (+1.4). Next came Hit 106.9 with 16.2% (+0.6) followed by triple j with 9.9% (-1.0) just ahead of 105.3 NEW FM with 9.6% (-0.4).
SCA and RadioAnalyzer believe that Australian radio listeners can look forward to even better shows and music formatting. A deal has been reached this week between Southern Cross Austereo (SCA) and Danish analytics company, RadioAnalyzer. Over the next few years, SCA will be using the RadioAnalyzer tools to enhance both music selection and spoken-word on-air content.
