Jimmy Smith Departs 2DAY FM Breakfast

Sydney radio host Jimmy Smith has quit his 2DayFM role to prioritise his mental health. He was a part of the Jimmy & Nath with Emma Breakfast Show.

He confirmed the decision in a statement, admitting his departure was not an easy choice.

“This has been one of the most difficult decisions I’ve ever had to make. Taking this week off made me realise just how much I’ve been struggling with my mental health. I’m not okay right now, and I need to step back and focus on getting well.

Working with Nath, Emma and the entire team has meant so much to me. I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve built together, and I wish them nothing but success.”

Nath and Emma will continue to host 2DayFM Breakfast for the remainder of 2025.

Sydney community radio station 2SER faces uncertain future as university funding dries up

Sydney community radio station 2SER has told volunteers it could close by July this year after Macquarie University said it would end its funding of the station last year. In an email to station volunteers seen by 702 ABC Sydney, 2SER station manager Cheryl Northey said the station understood UTS could not fund the station on its own.

Super Radio Network Departures

Mike Byrne has left the Super Radio Network. He was the Network Content Director a role he took on in January this year.

GfK Radio Ratings Canberra Survey 1, 2026

In the first GfK Canberra Survey for 2026, MIX 106.3 was once again the top rating station with a share of 22.8% (+0.6). Next came Hit 104.7 with 13.3% (-0.6) closely followed by ABC Canberra with 13.1% (+1.3). In fourth place was 2CA with 7.7% (+3.4). ABC Canberra was No 1 in breakfast (+4.7). 2RN dropped 8.3% in breakfast. ABC Canberra were also up 10.6% in evening.
