Maz Takes Over Drive at Life FM

Life FM Adelaide’s Mary-Anne ‘Maz’ Maio has departed The Takeover show she had hosted for five years to shift to Drive following the departure of Aiden Grant.

Maz said: “I love what I was able to do on The Takeover at Life FM, sharing my faith but also engaging with the community in a positive way each night, giving people something fun and wholesome (and sometimes full of crazy, off-the-rails radio), but it’s such a blessing to be recognised and given this incredible opportunity to challenge myself, strengthen my radio muscles, and speak into the hearts of many more people.”

Maz had just graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (Communication and Media Management) when she enrolled in the two-day voiceover workshop with Sean Craig Murphy’s Australian Radio School. James Meston from Arch D Radio on Life FM reached out afterward asking her to join him for a show.

“That final Takeover show on Friday (5th July) was pretty emotional, as I recalled the previous six years since I officially started on The Takeover, and the challenges of that time, namely the biggest being losing my Mum in January 2021 after a long illness. I spoke in my last The Takeover talk break about how the Show was a safe, positive place for me during the darkest days of my life, and that if my Mum was here, I reckon she’d thank Life FM for giving me something positive to focus on at that time,” said Maz.

“My biggest excitement in this new position is having the opportunity to not only connect with the people of Adelaide, but to become a friend for each of them.”

The Takeover on Life FM continues with David ‘Daz’ Howard-Jones and Lauren Francis.
