Media Watch condemns Kyle and Jackie O’s on air urinating guessing game

ABC’s Media Watch program reports that KIIS FM’s Kyle and Jackie O has hit a new low by broadcasting a urinating competition on air and discussing group sex with listeners.

ARN defended the duo stating that the “ARN stands behind the principle of editorial freedom for its talent, including Kyle and Jackie O”. The ARN spokesperson also apologised to “anyone who may have taken offence.”

ACMA stated that they have not received any complaints about the peeing competition.

Herald-Sun columnist Steve Price slammed the on air stunt which involved listeners having to guess which woman was in a toilet by the sound of their urination. He commented: “ARN as a company though surely needs to be held accountable to ACMA that is supposed to police standards. Problem there is you can’t complain directly to that body of public servants you have to complain to the station itself, first. The ACMA complaint website reveals it has not been updated since 2022. The Communications Minister is a woman – Michelle Rowland – a lawyer who specialised in media law after university and is married with two daughters Octavia and Aurelia. I wonder if Minister Rowland approves of an FM radio station recording some of its female staff urinating in the company toilets, and then broadcasting the results, along with sleazy and demeaning reviews of the sounds produced.”
