Ali Clarke, one of Adelaide’s most prominent media personalities, has announced her next move after stepping away from radio in 2024 following her breast cancer diagnosis. Ali most recently co-hosted Max & Ali in the Morning on Mix FM.
Ali, along with her prominent AFL coach husband Matt Clarke, have joined Prohibition Liquor Co as investors/co-owners and strategic advisors. This announcement comes as Prohibition launches South Australia’s first-ever equity crowdfunding campaign for a liquor company, inviting everyday Australians to help keep this award-winning distillery fiercely Australian-owned.
Ali and Matt Clarke, are passionate supporters of the brand and its commitment to authentic Australian craft distilling. Their decision to invest further strengthens Prohibition’s fight against foreign liquor giants that continue to swallow up local distilleries, diluting Australia’s rich distilling heritage.
Ali, a mother of three, most recently co-hosted Max & Ali in the Morning on Mix FM before stepping away in 2024 following her breast cancer diagnosis. Now, she’s bringing her extensive experience in media, PR, and strategy to Prohibition in a hands-on role. She will serve on the company’s newly formed advisory board while also consulting on PR, media strategy, marketing, and business development, particularly focusing on international expansion.
Matt Clarke, a long-time supporter of Prohibition Liquor Co., has been helping the brand as a consultant for years. Now, he’s making it official, stepping into a strategic role to assist with business values, leadership development, and team-building initiatives.
“Prohibition is at a pivotal point,” said Matt Clarke. “It’s a business with an incredible product, a strong brand, and an unwavering commitment to staying local. I’m excited to help shape its next chapter.”
Adam Carpenter, Prohibition Liquor Co. Founder and CEO, said. “Having Ali and Matt Clarke join Prohibition as both investors and key advisors is an incredible boost to our mission. They bring invaluable experience, passion, and a genuine love for the brand, and their involvement highlights just how important it is that we stay Australian-owned.
“We are incredibly proud to be the first-ever liquor business in South Australia to launch an equity crowdfunding raise. Our customers have always been the reason we are as successful as we are, and now they can truly share in our success by becoming part-owners of Prohibition. We are proud to have won every major gin trophy in Australia over the past 12 months. Being foreign-owned would jeopardise the unique formula that has put us on the global stage. We don’t want corporate bean counters diluting what makes Prohibition so special. We only want to answer to our loyal customers—who can now also be our part-owners.”
The Clarkes’ investment comes at a perfect time as Prohibition Liquor Co. embarks on an ambitious expansion, including the revival of the historic 147 year old Seppeltsfield Distillery in the Barossa Valley – the second oldest still in the country. This project will transform the long-dormant site into a world-class production facility and tourism destination. Funds raised through Prohibition’s equity crowdfunding campaign will also support international market growth in France, Japan, and the USA, as well as the expansion of its popular Gilbert Street Tasting Room and the launch of a new gin bar at McLaren Vale’s Penny’s Hill Estate.
With Ali and Matt now on board, Prohibition’s fight to stay fiercely Australian-owned has never been stronger. And the good news? You can join them. Prohibition Liquor Co. is inviting everyday Australians to invest alongside the Clarkes, becoming part of an iconic craft distillery’s future while ensuring Australia’s distilling heritage isn’t lost to global corporations.
