Mitch Lewis has been axed after 18 years at Nova’s 106.9 in Brisbane reports the Daily Mail. The sports presenter and father of four was a fan favourite among the on-air talent and gained a large following for his humorous Mitch on the Street segment.

He was also the long-term anchor of the station’s breakfast slot, including most recently The Nick, Luttsy & Susie O’Neill Show.

Management at Nova confirmed Lewis’ surprise redundancy in a statement reported in The Sunday Mail.

‘Mitch has made a valued contribution during his time with Nova 106.9, and we thank him for his commitment to the station and our listeners,’ a spokesperson said. ‘We wish Mitch all the very best for the future.’
