Super Radio Network’s principals, Despina Priala and George Caralis (pictured above with Graham Miles) have been appointed to the board of Directors of Coastal Broadcasters Pty Ltd.
Coastal Broadcasters, operates the vast NQ Radio network in tropical north Queensland through the 4AM, 4KZ, Kool-FM and KIK-FM stations, reaching an audience from Cairns to Townsville, the Great Barrier Reef and islands, Atherton Tablelands and the Gulf of Carpentaria – an area larger than Victoria.
The latest board appointments represent a strengthening of the corporate ties between Coastal Broadcasters and the Super Radio Network, which commenced some years ago after the late Bill Caralis purchased Alice Springs Broadcasters.
NQ Radio General Manager, Rod Henshaw, said the recent board appointments had created excellent opportunities designed to enhance the North Queensland network’s programming and Sales potential.
“We will always retain our daily local content out of the Innisfail and Mareeba studios, at the same time exploring additional programming, sales and technical avenues emanating from the Super Radio Network.
“While this entire region has suffered the debilitating effects of cyclone Jasper and the subsequent record flooding late last year and early this year, there are genuine signs of recovery, he said.
Those signs included ever-increasing tourism visitation numbers, world record sugar prices and burgeoning aquaculture, horticulture and agricultural industries.
“Listener feedback to the recent improvements to our definitive programming, news services and community involvement is now being reflected in our local and national sales revenue.
“We are confident that with the innovative programming being rolled out through Supernetwork in 2025 NQ Radio will consolidate its position as the preferred broadcast medium in North Queensland,” Mr. Henshaw said.
