River 94.9 Launch New Springfield Studio

Since River 94.9 began broadcasting to SE Queensland in the 90s, the station has been solely based at their studio and office in North Ipswich. However Ipswich has become such a large region that moving to a second base-of-operations within the city’s fastest growing area became the ideal approach to continue best serving the people and businesses of the region. River 94.9 General Manager, David Wiltshire, says the move is a no-brainer., “We love getting out and about in our wide coverage area and our new Springfield studio is a great way to continue doing that. It gives us a face-to-face presence and the chance to host fun promotions, giveaways and interviews with listeners and locals”.

The radio station will continue to operate primarily out of its main studio in North Ipswich, however River 94.9 aims to provide at least one daytime show live from the Springfield Studio every weekday, and even the occasional broadcast of their highly successful Saturday Breakfast Show, the Saturday Start Up.

The studio features the latest in broadcast technology, meaning that announcers have full control over their program and there is no requirement for a panel operator back in North Ipswich.

It is not just a fancy ‘Outside Broadcast’, but rather a fully functioning radio set up. An empty store front within Springfield Orion Shopping Centre has been refurbished to accommodate all the necessary gear, and doubles as a convenient meeting space for Sales staff and local clients.

They officially launched the new River 94.9 Springfield Studios on Monday 21st August 2023, followed by a full 12 hours of live broadcasting from the new location, starting with #1 Breakfast Show, Marnie & Campo, from 5am.
