So Bye Bye …. 4KQ

4KQ current and former staff gathered at their home base in Milton on Thursday evening June 30 to celebrate 75 years of broadcasting but mostly to farewell Brisbane’s home of ‘Classic Hits.’ The final program was a 6 hour music special and was hosted by Murray Shoring with pop in guests including Kim Mothershaw, Ian Skippen, John Knox, Greg Newman and other former on air personalities. Just before midnight many of the party goers gathered in the studio and sang along along to the final song Don McLean’s American Pie. At midnight the station converted to 693 SEN Q. (Photos of the evening will be featured in the August issue of Jocks’ Journal.)
