Super Radio Network terminates Guy Ashford’s employment at 2HD/NEW FM Newcastle

Super Radio Network (SRN) has terminated the employment of longtime Newcastle general manager Guy Ashford, days after he was filmed ‘groping’ a female award winner at the 2026 Audio Awards.

SRN chief executive Graham Mott advised staff in an email stating: “Guy Ashford has finished his employment as General Manager of 2HD and NEW FM. We wish Jim well in the future. WE will immediately commence a search for General Manager to lead our Newcastle operation.”

Video footage shows Ashford approaching the stage at the Audio Awards after presenter Cheralyn Darcey accepted the Best Newcomer Award. He is then seen embracing Darcey before briefly grabbing her from behind.

Triple M Fraser Coast 103.5 was the most listened to station in Maryborough Queensland in the latest Xtra Insights Survey (#1/2026) with 27.5% (+5.7). They were followed by Hit 101.9 Fraser Coast with 26.6% (-2.8). Next came ABC Wide Bay with 13.0% (+0.8).
