Sydney Radio Station Confirms Australia’s First AI Radio Host Has Been On Air For Months

Rumours had been swirling that a Sydney hip-hop radio station host who goes by ‘Thy’ was an AI avatar and not a human, and today it’s been confirmed by CADA.

The Project reported: The rumour went that ‘Thy’, the DJ on air every weekday from 11 am – 3 pm, was created rather than hired. Thy’s show page read: “Every weekday from 11am-3pm while you are at work, driving around, doing the commute on public transport or at uni, Thy will be playing you the hottest tracks from around the world.” Internet sleuths did a deep dive to find out more about her, but reportedly turned up a tiny mention on the station’s website, but little else. She also had zero social media presence. So, who is Thy?!

Thy’s voice and likeness is modelled on a real ARN employee. But she actually works in the finance team.

Well, CADA, operated by ARN Media, has confirmed that Thy really is AI.

Thy is a product of ElevenLabs, a generative AI audio platform that can turn text into speech.
