Vale Chris Lodge (1946-2024)

Long time General Manager of 2LM and ZZZ FM Lismore Chris Lodge has passed away.

Chris was born in 1946 and spent over 40 years in the media, starting out in Port Pirie South Australia as Manager of 5PI before coming to Lismore as General Manager for 2LM in 1986.

In 1994 the station expanded when Lismore got its first commercial FM station, ZZZ FM, which Chris was instrumental in.

Chris led the 2LM Children’s Christmas Appeal and was a big supporter of the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service.

Over the years Chris gave many people their first radio job here in Lismore, many who went on to have successful radio careers. It was Chris who employed Callum Jones as an announcer, and this year Callum stepped into the role the Station Manager.

Chris was a great supporter of Jocks’ Journal and whenever there was a position going at the station he would advertise that role.

Some described him as “an imposing figure”  – and was never shy about telling you what he thought, but you always knew where you stood.

Chris had three big loves in his life, his daughter Jessica, the Adelaide Crows, and being Manager of 2LM and ZZZ FM.
