Wendy Gee, ARN regional manager at WAVE FM Wollongong, is finally retiring after decades serving the media industry. Apart from her media commitments, Wendy joined The Disability Trust Board in 2017 and is a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.Â
After initially declining an offer from WaveFM’s owner Janet Cameron to join her station as sales manager, Gee accepted in April, 1997 and went on to become station manager. Prior to joining WAVE FM she had worked in sales at i98.Â
The great Johnny Young has died aged 79 following a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. He was involved in all aspects of show business as a singer/songwriter as well as a radio/TV host. His first job in radio was as an office boy at 6IX Perth when he was 14, and that was the station where he also ended his radio career. He also worked on 6KY and 3XY Melbourne from 1968-1972.Â
102.9 Triple M was the clear winner in the latest GfK Newcastle Survey (2/2026) with a share of 25.6 (+1.4). Next came Hit 106.9 with 16.2% (+0.6) followed by triple j with 9.9% (-1.0) just ahead of 105.3 NEW FM with 9.6% (-0.4).
SCA and RadioAnalyzer believe that Australian radio listeners can look forward to even better shows and music formatting. A deal has been reached this week between Southern Cross Austereo (SCA) and Danish analytics company, RadioAnalyzer. Over the next few years, SCA will be using the RadioAnalyzer tools to enhance both music selection and spoken-word on-air content.
