KIIS FM has lost another on-air duo, with Will and Woody’s exit the latest departure. It’s now expected that Carrie Bickmore will finish up at 2 Day FM with her contract soon up at SCA.
The Daily Telegraph reports: “We are devastated we won’t be continuing to do what we truly love next year and will sorely miss hearing the stories of everyone who contributed to the show,” Will & Woody said in a statement.
“It was always the listeners who made the show, so we are deeply thankful to you all. We are also incredibly grateful to (parent company) ARN for allowing us to live out our dream for the last eight years … guess we’ll now have to finally figure out how to make LinkedIn profiles.”
As their statement alludes, it is believed it was not the radio hosts decision to leave the network and has come as a shock to many in the industry given they were hugely popular with advertisers, listeners and fellow staff alike.
The duo have been on air at KIIS since 2019, hosting the national drive afternoon shift. They will finish up at the end of the year.
It comes as ARN signals a raft of announcements across KIIS over the coming weeks.
There is great pressure for KIIS to deliver in 2027 with executives scrambling following the departure of Kyle and Jackie O.
“In addition to its upcoming KIIS Breakfast announcements for Sydney and Melbourne, ARN will take a refreshed approach to national Drive in 2027, completing a new line-up for the KIIS network,” the ARN statement read.
Rumours have swirled as to who will fill the new breakfast shift with some describing it as a “poison chalice” to come in after the free-fall in ratings the station has seen since Kyle and Jackie O’s bust up.
TV vet Chris Brown is widely tipped as the top contender for breakfast, alongside influencer Amy Gerard with Jack Charles to anchor the show.
Charles on Wednesday announced his departure from panelling The Chrissie Swan Show on Nova.
“Will & Woody have been an important part of the KIIS family for the past eight years and have made a huge contribution to the network. They’ve brought their own unique energy, humour and personality to KIIS and we thank them for everything they’ve given the network over the years,” ARN chief content officer Kerri Elstub said.
“We wish Will & Woody all the very best for the future and look forward to seeing what they do next. In the meantime, they still have plenty of great radio ahead of them before the end of the year, and we look forward to celebrating their contribution and giving them the send-off they deserve.”
Earlier this week, it was reported seasoned broadcaster Ash London and fashion influencer and stylist Elliot Garnaut would move into the KIIS breakfast shift in Melbourne.
