In what could be a survey first, three Brisbane stations rated at No 1 (* people 10+). They were 4KQ, 97.3FM (both ARN stations) and Nova 106.9 all with a share of 10.2%. In our 30 years of publishing this has never occurred with three stations as co-winners! The other top rating metro stations in the GfK Survey 5 were: 2GB in Sydney (15.2%), 3AW in Melbourne (15.1%), Mix 102.3 in Adelaide (13.9%) and Mix 94.5 in Perth (13.4%). The great Johnny Young has died aged 79 following a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. He was involved in all aspects of show business as a singer/songwriter as well as a radio/TV host. His first job in radio was as an office boy at 6IX Perth when he was 14, and that was the station where he also ended his radio career. He also worked on 6KY and 3XY Melbourne from 1968-1972.Â
102.9 Triple M was the clear winner in the latest GfK Newcastle Survey (2/2026) with a share of 25.6 (+1.4). Next came Hit 106.9 with 16.2% (+0.6) followed by triple j with 9.9% (-1.0) just ahead of 105.3 NEW FM with 9.6% (-0.4).
SCA and RadioAnalyzer believe that Australian radio listeners can look forward to even better shows and music formatting. A deal has been reached this week between Southern Cross Austereo (SCA) and Danish analytics company, RadioAnalyzer. Over the next few years, SCA will be using the RadioAnalyzer tools to enhance both music selection and spoken-word on-air content.
