Hit Central Queensland Names George Sargent For The Workday

Radio young gun George Sargent is on his way to Rockhampton after being named as the workday announcer at Hit Central Queensland.

Winner of the Australian Commercial Radio Awards 2019 ‘Best Newcomer On Air – Country’, plus a finalist for ‘Best Sports Coverage’ and a finalist in the Australian Podcast Awards this year for ‘Best Entertainment Podcast’, Sargent was most recently the Executive Producer and co-host of It’s All True? with Grant and Chezzi Denyer as well as announcing at the ACE Radio Network.

Hit Network Assistant Content Director Queensland, Abi Benaud said Sargent is set to be a star, with passion and talent by the truckload.

“We’re very excited to have George join the Hit Network for Hit Central Queensland. With his on-air and podcasting experience, he will be a great asset. We can’t wait for him to start and have no doubt he will be yelling Queenslander for the State of Origin,” she said.

Born in Bathurst, George first spoke into a microphone while doing work experience with Bathurst Broadcasters in year 10. He was quickly offered his first program called the Weekend Wireless, which he hosted while also leading his school as Head Prefect. His love affair with radio had begun – he was offered a full time position with Bathurst Broadcasters soon after as a journalist and announcer where he stayed until April 2020.

Hear George on the Hit Central Queensland airwaves from Monday, June 7.
