Vale Cal Wilson : Aussie comedienne and TV/radio personality

Cal Wilson, Australian comedienne and a regular TV/radio performer has died at the age of 53.

Cal was a well-known fixture on the comedy circuit, winning Melbourne Comedy Festival’s Best Newcomer Award in 2001 and going on to appear at the event 14 times throughout her career. She also co-hosted The Great Australian Bake Off on Foxtel.

Her radio credits include: in 2007 she co-hosted the Nova Drive time radio show The Akmal Show with Cal Wilson in 2007. The program aired on Nova in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth. In 2009, she co-hosted Mornings on Melbourne’s Nova 100 with Dylan Lewis. Cal was also a regular guest on the Triple M program Get This, hosted by Tony Martin and Ed Kavalee.

In a statement to news.com.au on Wednesday morning, Token Artists announced that the New Zealand-born star had passed away following a short illness, surrounded by family and friends at Sydney’s Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.
