Sydney radio man Tony Moltzen has passed away (Apr 17) following a battle with cancer. He had been in palliative care. Tony served as a General Manager at 2UE, 2SM and 2WS.
David Rogerson, former Grant Broadcasters Group PD says: “Tony loved radio and even more so his radio mates. That was evident every time we met. He has not only enjoyed a successful career in the industry he was also a good and loyal friend to so many of us. For me he is up there with the top 3 GM’s I’ve ever worked with in radio. At Wesgo Tony allowed me the freedom to do my job while also accepting the responsibilities that came with us bringing together a new radio network. 2WS and 2GO were the flagship stations of an amazing time in the growth of radio networks in Australia.”
Smooth newsman Glenn Daniel says: “Very sad news. I loved working for Tony at 2WS / Wesgo in the 80’s. a wonderful radio man.”
Tony leaves behind a wife Marie , their four children and spouses, 14 grandchildren and almost five great grandchildren.
