Carter Edwards Retires

For more than 35 years, Carter Edwards has been a familiar voice on 2HD Newcastle but on Sunday evening May 29 he “turned the horses home” for the last time hosting his program Carter Edwards Country. Carter has worked on the 2SM Super Radio Network since 1986. He was inducted into the Australian Country Music Broadcasters Hall of Fame in 2005, and received the ICMA Award for Most Popular Commercial Radio Presenter in 2014.

  2. Dear Carter,
Thanks for the great years of songs and entertainment. I have been your fan since 1971. I watched you on day time television and then listened to your radio programs religiously. I have been to your live shows on the Central Coast.
I will miss you and wish you all the best.
Looking forward to your book publication.

  5. Ah Carter, I am so happy no one will ever have to listen to you reading Wikipedia articles again on the radio! You think you’re educated though you are a dimwit, it’s great you’re gone!

  6. A long time ago Carter Edwards was asked to attend Camp Breakaway on the Central Coast NSW to perform for the clients in this disability respite centre. He was extremely nervous his words but after an awesome moment with one particular client he was hooked. The client didn’t appear to be enjoying his show. Little did he know in that moment. He asked the nursing staff how he could reach her. The staff said let her hold one of your sound boxes (speaker). After Carter sang his next song he dedicated it to this young client who was profoundly deaf from the age of 11. The girl said “thankyou Carter”. This young lady was a huge fan of Carter already and was able to know the song by the vibrations from the speaker. Carter was hooked on Camp Breakaway from then on and attended regularly waiving his fee. He and that young client became mates and Carter would take her for rides on his motorbike. Happy retirement. You are a star
