Sarah Macdonald will return to presenting 702 ABC Sydney radio next year, taking on the Afternoons show. Macdonald says her late friend and former longtime Afternoons show presenter James Valentine will inspire her take on the show.
91.1 HOT FM was the most listened to station on the Sunshine Coast in the latest Xtra Insights Survey (#1/2026) with 17.4% (+4.1). They were followed by 92.7 MIX FM with 16.9% (+0.1). Next came 91.9 SEA FM with 10.5% (-4.5).
Veteran Queensland TV and radio news journalist Chris Adams has died at the age of 78. His wife, Helen Goltz, made the announcement of Chris’ death in a Facebook post: “My beloved husband, Chris Adams, passed away today, 12 September, at 5am…he had a big, enviable life as a journalist and producer that saw him cover many major stories and travel the world”. HIs final radio role was as the news director for both 4BC and 4BH.

Ron Wilson has become the 23rd member of the Australian Independent Radio news team. In 2025 he departed 2SM’s Breakfast program just six months after joining the station. Prior to joining 2SM he was a news presenter on radio station Smooth 95.3
In the latest GfK Radio 360 Metro Radio Survey (#5), smooth FM was once again the No 1 station in Sydney with a share of 13.5% (+0.1). 3AW continues as the No 1 station in Melbourne with a share of 14.1% (-0.1). B105 is once again No 1 in Brisbane with 12.0% (+0.0). Triple M is still the top rating station in Adelaide with 14.3% (-0.2). In Perth, Nova 93.7 is No 1 with 17.6% (+0.9).
Tapt Media has partnered with the Australian Traffic Network (atn) in a strategic deal that will enhance its traffic operations and create new sponsorship opportunities across its radio and digital audio network. Effective 1 October 2026, atn’s traffic content will return across 2GB Sydney, 3AW Melbourne, 4BC Brisbane and 6PR Perth, allowing the network to expand its live traffic updates into drive-time slots and expanded weekend hours across both broadcast and digital streaming.
