‘Intern Pete’ Deppeler is leaving KIIS and joining the the GOLD Network, as part of The Christian O’Connell Show, broadcasting to Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide. He will have an on air role and also take on the position as a senior producer.
Enforcement action against Kyle & Jackie O Show licensees for complaint-handling breaches
The ARN Media licensees of the Kyle & Jackie O Show have entered into an 18-month court-enforceable undertaking for breaches of complaint-handling rules under the Commercial Radio Code of Practice (the Code).
GfK Newcastle Survey 1, 2026
102.9 Triple M was the top rating station in the latest GfK Newcastle survey with 24.2% (+3.2). Next came Hit 106.9 with 15.7% (+0.3), then 2JJJ with 10.9 % (+2.5). 105.3 NEW FM had a share of 10% (-0.9).
GfK Gold Coast-Tweed Survey (1/2026)
In the latest GfK Gold Coast-Tweed Radio Survey (#1), Hot Tomato was once again the top rating station with a share of 21.7% (+5.5). They were followed by 92.5 Triple M Gold with 13.9% (+2.5), then sister station 90.9 SEA FM with 8.9% (+0.1).

Vision Christian Media farewells Ian Worby
Ian Worby – a name synonymous with Christian broadcasting – has concluded more than three decades with Vision Christian Media and its related entities. Ian’s most recent role has been as Chief Executive Officer of United Christian Broadcasters Asia Pacific (UCB Asia Pacific). On Thursday April 30, Vision staff and board members gathered to farewell and honour the man who was a major contributor into the establishing of the Vision Christian Radio network.

Australia’s biggest talk radio network has officially launched as Tapt Media after the Laundy Family Office completed the purchase of the Nine Radio division. The company aims to transform its distribution and commercial strategy while continuing to operate talk radio stations 2GB, 3AW, 4BC, and 6PR.
Australian Audio Awards Judging
The final judging has been completed for the first Australian Audio Awards. Close to 100 jurors from all facets of the industry and media platforms gathered at the AFTRS headquarters (in the Entertainment Quarter) on Tuesday April 28. A panel of 7 to 8 jurors spent 3 hours listening, taking notes and making decisions on who would be the winners in the various categories.
Vale Les Heil
Les Heil has passed away in Queensland. Les was synonymous with “Melbourne’s 3KZ” (AM & FM) which morphed into ‘GOLD’. He was also Chairman of the Board at Wesgo for a time and had a strong affinity with Adelaide’s 5KA. In recent times he was the Chair of Sunshine FM 104.9 Sunshine Coast.
James Valentine, ABC radio presenter, dies aged 64
Former longtime 702 ABC Sydney radio announcer James Valentine has died. Valentine retired from the station in February this year following cancer treatment, after attempting to return to the airwaves last year. (Source abc.net.au)
GfK Radio 360 Metro Radio Survey (2/2026)
In the latest GfK Radio 360 Metro Radio Survey (#2), smooth FM and 2GB tied at No 1 in Sydney with both stations registering a share of 13.3%. 3AW continues as the No 1 station in Melbourne with a share of 14.2% (+0.4). Triple M remains No 1 in Brisbane with 13.3% (+0.2) and in Adelaide, 5MMM is the top rating station with 12.2% (-0.3). In Perth, Nova 93.7 is again No 1 this survey with 15.6% (-0.5).
