From overnights to afternoons for ABC Radio Melbourne’s Trevor Chappell

ABC Radio Melbourne Overnights presenter Trevor Chappell will move into Afternoons from next week until the end of the year, replacing Jacinta Parsons, who finishes up today.

Chappell has presented overnight for 23 years and will have to adjust to 3pm versus 3am.

He said:

“It’s been about 27 years since I worked with the former Afternoons presenter, Derek Guile, from whom I learnt a lot about broadcasting,

As a nightshift worker, afternoon radio is my breakfast radio. As a result, listening to Jacinta has been the start to my day.

For me, I’m excited about the opportunity to present a new program, get some sleep and meet new people.  I will miss the listeners that have been with me for over 23 years – both the ones that call and also the people that text and listen. They have become good friends. I hope to make some new ones on Afternoons.”

Trevor will start on afternoons next Monday the 31st of July. Michael Pavlich will take over National Overnights from Monday to Thursday until the end of the year.

  1. Congratulations, Trevor Chappell!
TC is, in my humble opinion, one of the under-rated great radio communicators!
Trev, this is what feels like a lifetime of work to be an overnight success (pardon the pun!)
Mate, enjoy working in daylight hours, after all this time.
    Kindest regards
